International Day for Biological Diversity and the upcoming Urban Nature Series

Happy International Day for Biological Diversity!

In celebration of International Day for Biological Diversity, I have decided to launch a new series of posts on urban nature and urban biodiversity. This may get a little confusing as the previous "Flood Series" has not ended, but rest assured that you can sort the posts by labels if you wish to read all the posts within a series uninterrupted.

So, here is the plan:

Prelude - Nature of Illusion: Understanding Positive Illusion in the Rhetoric of Man versus Nature
This is an old essay that I wrote about two works examining man-nature relationship. This philosophical take serves as a prelude to understanding how nature, biodiversity and water claim their place in our urban environment, by presenting just a piece in the big puzzle.

Part 1: Man- Nature Dualism
This post will look into the basic idea of man-nature dualism and why we started looking at ourselves as separate from nature.

Part 2: Urban Nature
We will look at how architects, urban planners and thinkers have proposed ways to reconcile urban and nature, and their implication to our urban life.

Part 3: The Real Urban Biodiversity

Finale - Not an Afterthought
If everything goes well, I will merge the Flood Series and the Urban Nature Series into one big finale, where we explore some new possibilites that will address the relationship between water, biodiversity and the city.

There may be changes to the plan along the way, as I continue to gather information, to read, to snap, and to write my thoughts. Fear not, this post will be updated if any change in plan were to happen somewhere along the way. Now, have a nice day and say hello to the urban biodiversity near you if you encounter any :)
